Do you believe they put a man on the moon?
Once again, in honor of the 40th anniversary of the moon landing I would recommend going to Boston.com’s The Big Picture and scrolling through the photo gallery show honoring the occasion that was produced last week.
For a major newspaper website to come up with something like this is awesome and shows what that medium can do, visually, if newspaper staffs applies themselves and its area of expertise intelligently on the web. I bet if Boston.com were to even solicit donations to keep the site alive they would get it.
Funny thing is it took a web developer, Alan Taylor, to launch the idea that’s become widely popular. And though it looks simple enough I can’t imagine the amount of time it takes for him to scour the web, pick topics and pictures, and thread them all together for each post. Great, great stuff that definitely reflects an art on many, many levels, so don’t stop at the Apollo gallery while there. Check out Alan’s other pictorial essays.
